Accent® XL Laser Treatment

What is Accent® XL Laser Treatment?

Accent® XL is a unique laser treatment that utilizes radiofrequency (RF) technology to rejuvenate and tighten the skin and improve the overall contour and appearance of the body. This procedure is performed by heating the targeted area of skin with RF technology to stimulate the natural production of collagen within the skin. Accent® XL laser treatment can be used to improve the contours of the body by tightening loose skin for noticeable results.

Benefits of Accent® XL Laser Treatment

Most patients notice immediate results after the Accent® XL procedure, which is completely safe and noninvasive. The skin will feel tighter and will continue to improve as collagen production is stimulated. The procedure itself involves little to no discomfort, with most patients describing it as similar to a warm massage.

Risks of Accent® XL Laser Treatment

Accent® XL is considered safe for most patients, but some patients may experience redness and tenderness of the skin for a few days after treatment. Women who are pregnant or patients with a pacemaker, autoimmune disease or collagen injections in the treated area should notify their doctor before undergoing this procedure.

Affirm™ Laser Treatment

What is Affirm™?

Affirm is a non-ablative cosmetic treatment used to eliminate the appearance of wrinkles, stretch marks and scarring by stimulating collagen production and skin tightening for a restored appearance. While this treatment is most commonly performed on the face, it can also be used on the neck, chest, arms and hands. The Affirm treatment produces highly effective results with minimal downtime.

Benefits of Affirm™

Many patients seek Affirm treatment as an alternative to surgery such as a facelift and more expensive laser treatments such as Fraxel. Affirm is less expensive and has shorter downtimes and less side effects than many other cosmetic procedures. There is no pain associated with this procedure, and most patients achieve their desired results within three to six treatment sessions.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX is the most popular cosmetic procedure performed in the US, as it quickly and effectively reduces or eliminates the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles for up to six months, with no downtime and little to no discomfort. Through a series of tiny injections, Botox gives you a rejuvenated look by smoothing lines near the eyes, eyebrows, forehead, mouth and neck.

Benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX offer patients many benefit over other cosmetic procedures with its convenience, effectiveness and affordability. BOTOX offers patients effective results through a fast, simple and safe procedure. The entire procedure takes about ten minutes to perform, and patients can go home and return to regular activities immediately after.

Results of the Botox treatment are visible within days, as the appearance of frown lines and other wrinkles begin to improve. These lines will continue to improve for up to a month, will full results lasting for up to four months. During clinical trials, nearly 90 percent of patients noticed significant improvement in their appearance one month after treatment.

Risks of BOTOX® Cosmetic

Although Botox is considered safe for most patients, there are certain side effects associated with any cosmetic procedure. Some of these risks may include temporary eyelid drooping or nausea, as well as side effects such as headaches, redness and bruising of the skin. Most of these side effects are temporary, and will go away on their own within a few days.

Chemical Peel

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin on the face, hands, neck and chest to smooth texture, reduce scarring and remove blemishes and pre-cancerous growths to produce healthy, glowing skin. There are three different types of chemical peels: alphahydroxy acids (AHAs), tricholoroacetic acid (TCA) and phenol. They range in strength from mild to strong and are each designed to provide different results, depending on a patient's skin condition.

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

A chemical peel can be used to effectively reduce the appearance of wrinkles, age spots, freckles, scarring and blotchiness, as well as improve skin tone and texture by removing damaged layers of skin. This procedure is also now performed on younger patients looking to prevent the signs of aging from appearing too early. A chemical peel can be combined with laser treatment for optimal results.

What are the risks of a chemical peel?

Depending on the type of peel performed, this procedure may lead to pigment changes, persistent redness, scarring, infection and more. However, most peels are performed with no complications, allowing patients to enjoy a younger appearance.

It is important for patients to follow their doctor's instructions after the peel and to avoid prolonged sun exposure in order to maximize the results of their chemical peel.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are FDA-approved and safe for use by most patients. Many of the fillers are made from substances found naturally in the body and can effectively stimulate natural collagen production. These fillers are injected directly into the skin of the targeted area to restore volume and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. At the Center for Dermatology and Laser Surgery, we offer patients several different dermal filler options in order to provide the best possible results for their individual needs.

Sculptra™

Sculptra is an injectable filler that restores facial fat lost by the effects of lipoatrophy, including sunken cheeks, hollow eyes and other indentations. This filler is injected below the surface of the skin in the areas of fat loss. The Sculptra injection consists of an alpha hydroxyl acid called poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA. This product is safe, synthetic, biocompatible, biodegradable and long-lasting. No pre-testing is required for Sculptra treatments.

The results of Sculptra will appear gradually after the injection, with most patients able to achieve their desired results after just one treatment session. The length of the results can vary from patient to patient, but often last for up to two years after the first treatment session.

Juvéderm® Injectable Gel

Juvéderm® Injectable Gel is a safe, effective gel that restores volume to the skin and smoothes away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm is the first FDA-approved dermal filler proven safe and effective for persons of color. The Juvéderm gel is made of hyaluronic acid with a smooth consistency, allowing for easy injections and instant, natural-looking results. There is no pre-testing needed for this procedure.

Topical or injectable anesthesia may be used during this procedure to numb the treatment area and minimize any potential discomfort. The results of this procedure are available right away and can usually last for up to a year, the longest results available from any hyaluronic acid product.

Restylane®

Restylane is an FDA-approved dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid that restores volume to the skin, lifting and smoothing out wrinkles and other fine lines. This procedure is most commonly used to treat the glabellar lines (between the forehead) and the nasolabial folds. It can also be used to add volume and shape to the lips.

Since Restylane is made from a natural substance found in the body, no pre-testing is required. Restylane produces results that last for several months through its unique ability to bind with water and remain in the skin. The results of this procedure are visible right away, and can last for several months, depending on the condition of the individual patient's skin.

Radiesse®

Radiesse is a synthetic injectable filler that has been approved by the FDA to reduce moderate to severe wrinkles, folds and creases around the nose and mouth by stimulating the natural production of collagen in the skin. This product is made of microspheres composed of calcium hydroxylapatite within a water-based gel and is made from minerals similar to what makes up our bones. Radiesse can be injected directly into the skin with no need for pre-testing.

Radiesse is most effective in reducing the appearance of smile lines, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and other wrinkles around the nose and mouth. The results of this procedure are visible immediately after the injection and can last for up to a year or even longer. With continued treatment, patients will require fewer and fewer injections.

Evolence®

Evolence is an advanced collagen-based dermal filler especially effective in treating nasolabial folds. Injected just below the skin's surface, Evolence replaces facial collagen, which naturally depletes with age, and smoothes out wrinkles and folds. Evolence uses innovative Glymatrix technology, which increases the stability and longevity of the filler.

The results of Evolence injections are visible immediately and provide a natural enhancement with minimal swelling or bruising. If swelling does occur, it usually subsides after a few hours. Most patients achieve desired results after just one treatment session, although touch-ups may be desired in the future. Results are proven to last for at least six months, with some patients reporting results lasting up to a year.

What is Harmony® XL Laser Treatment?

Harmony® XL is an advanced laser system with over 60 different aesthetic and medical indications, using Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT) intense pulsed light for to improve skin color, treat acne and remove unwanted hair. The laser can be used to treat skin on the forehead, cheeks, chest, around the eyes, upper lip and neck area, and help improve the texture and tone of the skin for an overall younger and more refreshed look.

Harmony® High Power Pixel Laser Treatment

What is High Power Pixel Laser Treatment?

The High Power Pixel 2940 Er:YAG is part of the Harmony® XL laser system, used for non-ablative skin resurfacing for aging, damaged or scarred skin. The skin is treated by creating thousands of microscopic perforations while leaving the skin of the area intact and able to heal around the edges of the tiny holes for an improved complexion. This treatment can be used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance pores, fill in acne scars and improve overall skin pigmentation.

Benefits of High Power Pixel Treatment

The Pixel laser system can effectively improve signs of aging, including wrinkles, fine lines and sun damage, in a simple, noninvasive 30 minute procedure. It can be performed as an alternative to microdermabrasion or a deep chemical peel, offering similar results without anesthesia or long recovery times. This treatment is gentle enough to use on the neck, chest and hands as well as the face.

Although this treatment does not make patients immune to the future effects of aging, regular maintenance sessions can help preserve the results of the procedure and allow patients to sustain a younger appearance.

Risks of High Power Pixel Treatment

The Pixel system is safe for all skin types, but patients should check with their doctor first to make sure any pre-existing skin conditions won't interfere with the results or safety of the procedure. Patients may experience redness and flushing on the skin of the treated area, but these side effects are usually temporary and can be reduced by adhering to your doctor's instructions for after treatment.

Microdermabrasion

What is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion reduces the appearance of mild to moderate sun damage, scarring, wrinkles and other superficial skin problems with a gentle stream of tiny particles of aluminum oxide crystals that exfoliate the outer layer of skin and provide a fresh, glowing, younger appearance.

What are the benefits of microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a convenient procedure that safely and effectively improves the appearance of the skin with no pain and no downtime. Most patients see significant improvement to the color, tone and texture of their skin, as well as improvements to oily or dull skin, enlarged pores or mild complexion problems. In addition to its cosmetic results, microdermabrasion can also help enhance circulation and lymph flow, to keep skin as healthy on the inside as it is on the outside.

What are the risks of microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is safe for most patients as long as it is performed by a qualified skin care professional. Most risks associated with this procedure are related to unsterile conditions or improper application, and may include infection, perforation, irritation and more.

Laser Hair Removal

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure used to remove unwanted body hair with intense pulsed light energy that lets patients enjoy effective long-term results from a safe, painless and convenient procedure, and eliminates the need for shaving, waxing and other temporary solutions.

During this procedure, lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light that are absorbed by dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin's surface and converted to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years.

What are the benefits of laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal effectively removes unwanted hair from the face, upper lip, neck, chest, underarms, back, abdomen, bikini line and legs through a short series of safe, relatively painless treatment sessions that provides long-term results.

What are the risks of laser hair removal?

Although laser hair removal is considered a safe procedure for most patients, there is always a risk of complications associated with any type of medical procedure. Some of these risks may include scarring, change in skin texture, blistering, regrowth of hair or lightening or darkening of the skin.

Latisse™

What is Latisse™?

Latisse is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for hypotrichosis, or inadequate eyelash growth. Latisse is a breakthrough treatment that enhances eyelashes by increasing their length, thickness and darkness through a daily treatment applied to the base of the upper lashes. This treatment contains bimatoprost, which increases the amount of hairs and the duration of the eyelash growth process.

What are the benefits of Latisse™?

Most patients notice significant results from Latisse after just four weeks of continuous use, with full results visible after 16 weeks. Latisse is the only prescription treatment currently approved by the FDA to help stimulate the growth and thickness of the eyelashes without makeup.

What are the risks of Latisse™?

Although rare, some patients may experience itching or redness in the eye after treatment. The skin close to the eye may also be affected by Latisse, causing skin darkening, redness, irritation and dryness. These side effects can usually be relieved by discontinuing treatment.
